Why Peace Education Matters

Peace is not the absence of conflict but the capacity to address it constructively. Peace education equips young people with the skills to listen, negotiate, resolve differences and build consensus—skills that matter in the classroom, the community and the world. Model Peace Summit exists to make high-quality, student-led peace education accessible and scalable.

Evidence

Research & Evidence Base

Our framework draws on established practice in conflict resolution, dialogue, mediation and peacebuilding. We are building an evidence base for the impact of student-led peace education—through participant feedback, case studies and, in time, partnerships with researchers. Findings and references will be shared here as they develop.

Outcomes

Student Outcomes

Participants in MPS events develop concrete skills: public speaking, negotiation, facilitation, critical thinking and empathy. They also build confidence, networks and a sense of agency. We aim for lasting impact beyond the event: students are encouraged to translate dialogue into action through school initiatives, partnerships, service projects and ongoing collaboration. We track and share outcomes (anonymised where appropriate) to demonstrate the value of the model and to improve it. For our full mandate, see Our mandate on the About page.

Charter

Global Youth Peace Charter

Model Peace Summit is working towards a Global Youth Peace Charter—a statement co-created by young people that captures their commitment to dialogue, justice and wellbeing. The charter will be shaped by participants across summits and will serve as a shared reference for the movement. Details will be published as the process advances.

Community

Alumni Network

Past participants will have the opportunity to join an alumni network—staying connected, sharing experiences and supporting future summits. The network will strengthen the movement and create lasting impact beyond individual events. Registration and benefits will be announced in due course.

Growth

Future Chapters

Our vision is a global network of MPS chapters and host schools. Each new summit adds to the movement; each region can develop its own chapter while staying true to the shared framework and values. We will document and support the growth of chapters here.
