About MPS
Model Peace Summit
An independent global movement for peace education, led by students.
Our mandate
Our mandate
The Model Peace Summit exists to empower young people to become informed, ethical and active contributors to peace in an increasingly complex world.
The Summit provides students with a structured, intellectually rigorous and inclusive student-led platform to explore global challenges, practise dialogue and diplomacy, and develop the skills required to resolve conflict through understanding rather than division. Through debate, collaboration and reflection, students are encouraged to engage with differing perspectives, question assumptions, and seek solutions grounded in empathy, evidence and respect.
At its core, the Model Peace Summit is designed to:
- Strengthen students' critical thinking, communication and leadership skills
- Develop global awareness, cultural literacy and ethical reasoning
- Foster student agency, ensuring young people are not passive observers of global issues but active participants in shaping responses
- Promote peaceful dialogue, cooperation and mutual respect across cultures, nations and viewpoints
- Support student wellbeing by providing a safe, well-structured environment for discussing complex and sensitive global issues
The Summit aims to have a lasting impact beyond the event itself. Students leave with increased confidence, a deeper understanding of international issues, and a strong sense of responsibility towards their communities and the wider world. They are encouraged to translate dialogue into action through school initiatives, partnerships, service projects and ongoing collaboration.
By placing students at the centre of meaningful global conversations, the Model Peace Summit nurtures a generation of young people who are thoughtful, principled and prepared to contribute positively to a more peaceful and just world.
What is MPS?
What is the Model Peace Summit?
MPS is defined by four interconnected elements:
- A framework — A structured set of modules (dialogue, resolution, moot court, negotiation, speaker platform, case studies, seminars, wellbeing) that any host can adopt.
- A methodology — A clear approach to how sessions are designed, facilitated and led, with students at the centre and adults in support roles.
- A global youth movement — A growing network of schools and young people who share a commitment to peace education and student leadership.
- A peace education platform — A space where educators and institutions can access resources, host events and connect with like-minded partners.
Our philosophy
Our philosophy
Why student leadership matters: Young people are not passive recipients of peace education—they are the agents of it. When students design the agenda, moderate the discussions and question the assumptions, they own the learning and carry it beyond the summit.
Peace as skill, not slogan: We treat peace as a set of teachable, practiceable skills: listening, negotiating, resolving conflict, building consensus. These skills are developed through doing, not only through theory.
Dialogue over division: We believe that sustained dialogue across differences is the foundation of lasting peace. Our framework creates safe, structured spaces for that dialogue to happen.
